When Mike and Trina Lopez met, they shared a love for wine and a common goal of one day owning their own wine bar. Both born and raised in Texas, their future wine bar would exemplify the warm hospitality and good company native to the Lone Star State.
The couple moved to Prosper in 2019 to be closer to their new granddaughter, Sloan, and they immediately knew they’d found the right community to build their dream. Through a partnership with the Prosper Economic Development Corporation, Mike and Trina purchased land on West Broadway Street and developed plans for a two-story wine bar with a rooftop patio and 1800 square foot event hall.
For 20 years Trina has worked in the mortgage industry helping customers achieve their dreams of home ownership. Now she’s ready to leave the corporate world and follow her passion for wine and hospitality to operate Prosper Wine House. She envisions an intimate, comfortable setting where family and friends gather to share stories and wine – or maybe catch the Cowboys game on the rooftop patio. She will oversee the daily operations at the wine bar, and has a great foundation after spending 14 seasons working part time with Legends Hospitality and the Dallas Cowboys.
Mike is a General Contractor by trade, and recently moved his company headquarters to Prosper as well. MCL Construction will break ground on The Prosper Wine House and Event Center on Broadway this spring. Mike previously owned a vineyard and remains a Texas Wine enthusiast – traveling frequently with Trina to wineries around the state. He is looking forward to hosting live music at the Wine House and raising a glass with guests at the bar on Friday nights. Mike has big vision for the future of Prosper, and can’t wait to collaborate with the other business owners to continue building a vibrant downtown area.
When they aren’t working on the wine bar, Mike and Trina are probably at home with their three Australian Shepherds – Beringer, Harvest and Vino –playing with Sloan while their daughter Maegan enjoys an evening out with her husband Cody. That is if it’s not football season – when you can find them at AT&T Stadium cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Formal Ground Breaking Ceremony coming soon!
